What is a Carbon Footprint?

A carbon footprint (CFP) is defined as the sum of GHG emissions and GHG removals in a product system, expressed as CO2-equivalents. A carbon footprint accounts for all six Kyoto GHG emissions.
ISO 14067 specifies principles, requirements and guidelines for the quantification and communication of the CFP of products, covering both goods and services, based on GHG emissions and removals over the life cycle of a product. ISO 14067 provides criteria for calculating the CFP of a Product that is now a competitive tool on the market. This increases consumer confidence in this environmental indicator and helps to clarify the labels of the products.
